My name is Alexandra. Some might say I'm a jack of all trades, but unlike the second part of that famous saying and fortunately for me, I have mastered a few trades trough the years. With a degrees in textile craft, teaching, journalism, and over 6 years of experience working with everything from costumes, props and sets for theatre and tv, to textile design, photography and horse riding, I have gathered quite a unique set of skills and a very versatile resume.
Sewing and crafting has been a part of my life since I was a child. At 5 years old my grandmother thought me to knit. At 6 my grandfather taught me to carve wooden boats and at around 7 or 8 my mother showed me how to use her sewing machine. By 13 I started making my own clothes.
As a teen without any knowledge of pattern making or technical sewing, I started drafting patterns from scratch, which often challenged my mothers patience and anxiety since creativity usually struck on tight deadlines, resulting in situations like me cutting out the pieces for my graduation dress the day before graduation. But don't you worry, the dress was always finished on time.
By the time I graudated high school I knew I wanted to work in the creative field. After finishing the Finnish matriculation examination I went on to study fashion at Västra Nylands folkhögskola and then Costume Design at IADT in Dublin, Ireland. In 2020 I graduated from Åbo Academy University with a BA in Textile Craft Education, minoring in Mass Communication. I went on to do an MA, which I finished in 2022, the same year Ame Creative was born.
But Ame Creative is not just about textiles. Ame Creative is the creative outlet for all the skills I've mastered trough the years. I bought my first DSLR camera in 2012 and over the years photography became a side hustle. With over 20 years of experience with four legged friends of the equine kind, and personal experience of stunt work trough horse archery, it is no surprise that horse photography and capturing fast action scenes has become my speciality. In 2025 I produced my first livestream, broadcasting the Finnish Horse Archery Championships and this year I am the main sponsor of the event.
Turku, Finland is the place I call home and where I have my studio, but I am always up for new adventures. Distance is but a question of travel time and planning. I love that my work keeps bringing me to new places and I hope it will keep letting me experience adventures that the little 5 year old girl, that grandma thought how to knit, could only ever have dreamed about.
