My name is Alexandra. You could say I'm a jack of all trades, and fortunately I have mastered a few. With a degrees in textile craft, teaching and journalism, and over 6 years of experience working with everyting from costumes and sets for theatre and tv to textile design, photography and horse riding, I have gathered quite a unique set of skills.
Sewing and crafting has been a part of my life since I was a child. At 5 years old my grandmother thought me to knit, at 6 I learned to carve wooden boats with my grandfather and as a teen, I started making my own clothes. Without any knowledge of patternmaking or technical sewing, I started drafting patterns from scratch, letting my creativity flow, which often made my mother hold her breath since creativity usually struck on tight deadlines resulting in me cutting out the pieces for my graduationdress the day before graduation.
By the time I graudated high school I knew I wanted to work in the creative field. After finishing the Finnish matriculation examination I went on to study fashion at Västra Nylands folkhögskola and then Costume Design at IADT in Dublin, Ireland. In 2020 I graduated from Åbo Academy University with a BA in Textile Craft Education and went on to do an MA, which I finished in 2022. The same year Ame Creative was born.
But Ame Creative is not just about textiles. In 2012 I bought my first DSLR camera and over the years my hobby became a my side hustle. As life would have it horse photography and capturing fast action scenes became my speciality. This might be due to over 20 years of experience with four legged friends of the equine kind, and personal experience of stunt work trough horse archery.
My home base is in Turku, Finland, but I am no stranger to the road. Trough the years I have created colourful costumes and captured unique moments in both Finland and Sweden and I hope my work will keep taking me places the little girl sitting on grandmothers kitchen sofa learning to knit, could only ever dreamed about.
